NEWS & REPORTS
Barbecue under The Trees
November is one of my favourite months, doves are always in the hills and we just love to drive around this beautiful area. We had some rains and the landscapes look green and fresh, also the winter wheat is getting ready to be harvested, and we have seen some big flocks of doves having fun in the agriculture land. This is also great news; because the more food the birds have, the more hatches they have per year. Eureka.
The alarm clock wake our guest normally around seven thirty am and half hour later we have a complete breakfast with special fried eggs, or scrambled, with bacon, sausages, orange juice, cereals, fruit and yogurts. Around 9 am we get to the field with a lovely warm sun over our shoulders. Some shooting and Argentine barbecue in the field! Federico is the expert in our doves special that is very well known all around Texas! In this occasion we had some great barbecues under the shade of the forest up in the hills. Lovely.
Our last group before this report was a great couple from Sweden Mikael and Louise. They both have experience on wingshooting. Mikael is a great shooter with high averages. He likes high doves and the hills of Macha were just the right place for him. He shot with a Beretta over and under 20 gauge, and used local shells with 25 grams and #7 ammunition. Remember that in every box there are 25 shells. He thinks that the over and under gives him a better balance and stability in his swing. In this case it was not necessary to use an extra rubber gun pad.
This month we have some non-hunting activities too. We went for a great horse riding day in the hills of Ongamira, one hour from the lodge, with a nice meal at lunch time and a beautiful sunset. Louise said she will recommend it to every person, and trust me it is an amazing dream place. We hope you will enjoy it one day. We have also done some Polo practice at Los Algarrobos just 10 minutes away from the lodge, in a very cozy place with Alejandra and “El Negro Novillo”, a great couple from Totoral that speaks fluid English, breed Polo ponies and have two sons that play very good Polo and a lovely daughter that host some non-hunters for a horse riding. They have a lovely cabin for a barbecue, “mate” and drinks in the evening.
We customize trips for our guest, we do a research with them to check their expectations and then we try to go further their expectations, to make them live a trip of a life time, which is our spirit. And if we lose it, we will not be Pointer anymore; we will lose our soul and humility. We do this because we love it and we wake up every day with joy to be around our guests, and we like our families to get involved and share our happiness.
It is not only about the shooting, it is the whole experience, and Pointer aim to be your best hunting experience. And we like to say aim, because is a daily goal. Every sunrise we are there to give our best.
