The Estancia is located in the north of the Santa Fe province. It is one of the best options for duck hunting in Argentina. The hunt is on the marshlands and islands of Parana River. The driving time from the airport to the lodge is one hour and thirty minutes. For those guests flying private charters, landing takes place forty minutes away from the lodge.

There are daily direct overnight flights from many U.S. cities to Buenos Aires airport, with three daily connecting flights to Santa Fe. The duration of a commercial flight from Buenos Aires to Santa Fe is an hour and ten minutes. Important: when you land in EZE International Airport in Buenos Aires, you will need to change to Aeroparque Airport to fly to Santa Fe, since Aeroparque is the only airport that operates domestic flights.

Our Lodges are primarily Argentine Estancias built by the Cattle Barons of the Early 20th Century.  They were built with luxury and relaxation as the main goal.

After an exciting day in the field or on the water, you will be met by our staff and treated as if you were the Cattle Baron of yesteryear.  Cold drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and a relaxing fire allow you to unwind from the glorious day afield and once you are thoroughly relaxed you will be called to the table and served a meal prepared by some of the finest chefs in Argentina.

Many of our clients say that the hunting and fishing bring them to Argentina but that our lodges and staff bring them back to Pointer Outfitters.

The Field

Argentina is considered a dream for waterfowlers. One of the best options offered is the Parana River, one of the longest rivers in the world, surrounded by thousands of little islands that are just the right place for duck breeding. The Pilaga Island is also very famous for the amazing number of duck and variety of species that come every year.

The 50 square mile radius (129 km2) around the shooting area form one of the most amazing duck shooting reserves. On the northern area of the lodge, about 60 miles away, there are a couple of great roosting areas for doves, and the fields covered with natural grass have a great population of Perdiz. Our location is annually inhabited by over fifteen million duck during the season. People and outfitters talk about a population of twenty million dove. Our Company counts on thirty different shooting fields throughout the entire region.

The Hunting - Ducks

The Duck Program starts at 6:00 am with a hearty breakfast. Around 6:45 am we take a short boat ride to the shooting field. Schedules vary depending on the time of the year. The boat ride is between twenty to forty minutes. After the morning shoot, we go back to the lodge for lunch and a siesta. In the afternoon, we depart at around 3:30 pm for the evening duck shoot.

The Hunting - Dove

Our dove shooting program starts early in the morning with a complete breakfast, which provides fruit, cereal, toast, coffee, and eggs prepared according to your preferences. Your guide/host will arrive for breakfast and will talk to you about the hunting

At your arrival, the field staff will be ready to take you immediately to your shooting blind. It will be an estimated three hours of shooting before lunch time. The head guide will be available to assist and coach you if you so desire. Each guide is an experienced and qualified shot. They will be able to provide you with special coaching and tips to improve your accuracy.

At our daily location, we will set up a tent and prepare the famous Argentinean barbecue. You will immensely enjoy the cuts of meat prepared, accompanied by our well known Malbec wines. After a great meal, depending on the time of the year, we will set hammocks to relax before afternoon hunt begins. In the evening, when everybody has finished shooting, we will return to the lodge for appetizers and drinks.

*Schedules can change depending on the time of year.

The Hunting - Mixed Bag

The Mixed Bag Program is a combination hunt of three different species in one place. It includes the challenging shooting of duck, thehigh volume shooting of dove, and the unique perdiz hunt.

Normally an average program is four nights. In the mornings you will shoot duck or perdiz, and in the afternoons you will be shooting duck or dove. This is a seasonal activity that we are offering during our winters (from May to August).

The perdiz hunt could be compared to quail hunt in Georgia or Alabama, but these birds are normally in small groups of two. It requires a well trained dog, a professional guide with good skills to run the dog, and two shooters. Please the tab "Hunting" underneath the primary tag "Mixed Bag Program" for more details and pictures.

Dove shooting in this program is different from Cordoba’s Dove Shooting. The terrain is flatter, so there are not as many shooting angles in terms of presentation of the birds. The volume of birds is is just as good as the Cordoba program. It is important to know that you will have more than two hours of high volume shooting, which in Argentina means hot barrels and lots of action.

Gear and Equipament

Chest Waders - These are by far the most common type of waders. They keep you dry in deep water, and shoulder straps ensure they stay in place. Most come with pockets and clips to secure shell holders, calls, and other hunting accessories. *we provide rentals at the lodge

Hip Waders - These give hunters unparalleled comfort, protection, and value. Durable stretch neoprene provides excellent insulation, bonded and taped seams provide protection against leakage, and double-layered neoprene in the knees insulate wonderfully. *we provide rentals at the lodge

Shooting Gloves - We suggest bringing Pro Camo Waterproof Insulated Gloves, or some Primos Stretch-Fit Gloves. Another great option for cold days would be Drake Men's Double Duty Gore-Tex Decoy Gloves.

Socks - Cotton Thermal with Stripe Accents Boot Crew Socks; High Bulk Acrylic Thermal Boot Crew Socks.

Headwear – Camo or Brown Reversible Beanie ~ Duck Hunting Hat Stocking Cap. Should be 80% cotton/20% Acrylic or polar.

Polar Necks – For especially cold and windy days.

Insulated Underwear – Mid-weight long sleeve thermal top-provides more warmth and comfort in cool/cold outdoor situations. Carbon Alloy® technology combines with an anti-microbial treatment to provide an ultimate barrier for body odor. The garment also breathes to keep you dry and cool.

Full-Season Headwear - keeps hunters insulated, camouflaged, and comfortable throughout the seasons and the range of temperatures experienced here in Argentina. The earlier part of the season will be cool, mid-season will be breezy, and the end-season will be quite cold. Its large opening prioritizes visibility, hearing, and comfort. The hinged facemask design lowers easily so you can quickly call or shoot. Especially recommended for late June and July hunting trips.

Insulated Jackets - put warmth and durability ahead of any frilly features, so you end up with a performance powerhouse ready for any water fowling hunt. We suggest one built with a 100% polyester shell and 100% nylon lining.

Ear Protection - There are numerous varieties of ear protection on the market. You should look for comfort, fit, and sound deafening components.

Camera - The area you will be hunting is exceptionally beautiful. We also offer a private service by a professional photographer. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Evening Dress- Clothing is casual. Slacks and sport shirts are all you need.

Band-Aids/Tape/Medicinal cream - We have first aid kits in the field in case of an emergency. It’s a good idea to bring your own personal medical supplies however. Antihistamine cream for bug bites, Neosporin for cuts, sunscreen, etc.

IMPOTRANT NOTE: We have wader and hip boots rental all sizes, please check with our office for reservations and pricing.

Gun Rental

For mixed bag hunts in Santa Fe we have all 20 gauge semi automatics, Benelli Montefeltro, Benelli M1 Black, Beretta Urika 391, and Beretta A400.

At Pointer Outfitters, like in all Argentina hunting companies, all guns are used.  This is because of the high volume of shooting in dove hunts that makes any gun a used gun in just a short time.  We clean and service our guns routinely and keep them in top operating condition.

For better service to our guest, our policy is to have 2 shotguns per person per blind.  If you have a gun jam or mis-fires, your filed assistant will be able to change your gun quickly,  We want you to understand we work very hard providing a great hunting service, but infrequently gun issues do arise.

Your field assistant will be taking good care of you in the blind and if by any reason your gun needs to be replaced it will happen in a very short time.  All personnel have radios and all matters of importance can be relayed expediently.

Regarding chokes, we have mostly Modified and Improved Cylinder.  Please be sure to have your special chokes if you require something different.  Or if you will let us know about your special request before your hunting trip, we will make every effort to make it happen.

Travelling Here

Final destination for this hunting option is Santa Fe City (Sauce Viejo Airport).

The best international connection is through Buenos Aires (Argentina).

In Buenos Aires you'll arrive at Ministro Pistarini International Airport in Ezeiza (EZE) and you'll have to change airport to Jorge Newbery Airfield (AEP)

Here are great connections to Buenos Aires from New York, Miami, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta and Los Angeles.

IMPORTANT: Since you have to change airports in Buenos Aires, make sure that you have at least 4 hours between connections. EZE and AEP are located far from each other (almost 2 hours drive, depending on traffic).

Most of our guests that come hunting in Santa Fe arrive on their check-in date and start hunting that same day. A different option is to arrive a day earlier in Buenos Aires, spend the night in the city and fly to Santa Fe the following day.

If there are no flights available to Santa Fe on your hunting date, you can also fly to Paraná, General Justo José de Urrquiza (PRA). Paraná is in Entre Ríos province, which is right next to Santa Fe, and its airport is located at the same distance as SFN.

Ministro Pistarini Airport (Buenos Aires, Argentina)

Right now, 31 airlines operate out of Ministro Pistarini Airport. Ministro Pistarini Airport offers nonstop flights to 51 cities.

Every week, at least 126 domestic flights and 833 international flights depart from Ministro Pistarini Airport.
