Malbec Red Wine Please
I am at La Guarda International Airport in NY on my way to Colorado Springs, and guess what? The same wine we drank with the dove breasts last week with Wayne and his friends is available at the Metro Burger Bar at terminal B. That is amazing, world is flat, no doubt. By the way, there is an interesting book written by Larry (I forgot his last name) with the same name that is great: The World Is Flat.
It is amazing to think that from this airport, I could make a 4,30 hours flight right now to Colorado or a 10 hours flight to Argentina and I will be in the paradise of wingshooting. Also, think how good could be a direct flight to Buenos Aires with a sleeping pill, and one hour later you will be in paradise.
Now I remember that my idea was to write about Wayne last trip to Cordoba at Las Peñas Lodge. He came to visit us with 6 of his friends. Funny Lisle, a guy with tons of experience in the dove hunts in Argentina, and his lovely wife Abby. And also Barry, who had been in Argentina like 6 times already. What a challenge! These gentlemen should have fun. They are serious dove hunters, and they have also invited some new friends like Jim, DOW genetic doctor, Sam, experienced pilot at FEDEX; and John, experienced business man.
So here we are again, talking about the ALAMOS MALBEC RED WINE, sitting in the field, with the sun shining in our backs meanwhile Federico does his unique doves with malbec red wine. These are the doves from our morning hunt, and we are all ready to enjoy some of the best delicatessen on dove hunt dishes. Barry had said: “This is the best dove breast I have ever had, thank you guys”. And we feel proud of our special meals in the field. After that we had the unique tender loin from Argentina pampas, and we make some jokes about taking Sam for Shopping at Cordoba City. The reason was that Sam had asked us the first day if he would be able to do some shopping for his wife; can you believe that? Amazing!! Three days in Cordoba and he is thinking about a gift for her 5 minutes after he landed, that is supposed to be pure love, right?
I feel now that I should buy something for my wife at La Guarda International Airport, maybe a Yankees pink hat in the duty free. Or a t-shirt that says I love NY, or maybe something sweet. The issue is I am not good at shopping, so I think I will wait till Dallas to check what I can do. Meanwhile I am remembering the 20,000 doves we shot in 4 days with 7 guests, I am here at the airport, with a Miller draft beer and writing some lines and watching some American football (By the way, Chicago is wining so far, I do not know if that is good or not)
Coming back to Cordoba, we hunted for 4 full days, enjoyed the hospitality at Las Peñas Lodge, enjoyed some of the best meat cuts in Argentina, and enjoy a night of Italian pasta. We went to the field around 8:30 am every morning, and stay all day long. Doves’ flight was lovely, and we hunted very close to the roosting area. It was a great week, big volume of birds and lovely weather. Only the first day was kind of windy. It was a good end for 90 days on a row of heavy duty guiding groups for great hunts, we all deserve a rest. And meanwhile I am waiting for my flight, all the crew is getting ready to take Mark M. from San Antonio and his friends for a lot of fun in the next days. Good news guys! The same red wine you enjoy in Cordoba is available in more than one spot in US. So go and get the famous Argentine wine for your next barbecue.
You should be the next one!
