Unlimited Doves and Fun
October 2018 was such an amazing month for our guests. It was full of doves! They had the pleasure of shooting countless.
On October 16th, I had the pleasure of meeting 2 groups. On the one hand: William, John, Chris and Kurt. And on the other hand, Sergio, Mario, Alejandro and Jeffrey. All of them stayed at La Loma Lodge. Two different groups that get on really well!
We welcomed them at the airport at 11 am. After all the greetings and happiness of landing in Argentine land, we departure to right away to the field, where the cook and the field assistants were waiting for us. First of all, we had lunch - nothing better after a long flight! Once we finished it was hunting time! Our guests were surprised with the amount of doves we have here. They took pictures and videos to show their families in the US - it was amazing!
When we arrived to the field, each one went to his post with his field assistant. It was a great hunting afternoon.
The following day was planned to begin at 7.30 but we finally left the lodge at 8.15. They were tired because the day before had been so exhausting! We went to Santa Rosa, close to Rio Primero, 1:30 away from the lodge. The sun was bright and shining. They put sunscreen to protect them from it! We always recommend to bring some sunscreen, even in spring, since we spend many hours in the field. They wanted to shoot on pairs to have more fun, so we placed them as they wished. And we let the hunting begin!
At lunch time, David was waiting for us with a parrillada, a typical Argentine barbacue. Cooked at the field, different meat cuts like ribs, flank and steak are grilled to the heat of firewood burning. Lunch at the field will definitely be a highlight when you retell your experience in Argentina to your friends! They also enjoying a typical drinking: fernet, made from a number of herbs and spices which vary according to the brand, but usually include myrrh, rhubarb, chamomile, cardamom, aloe, and especially saffron, with a base of grape distilled spirits, with some Coke. A little bit bitter at the beginning, but delicious once you get used to it. Definitely, a characteristic drink of our culture you shouldn't miss.
Back to the field, we continue with the hunting. Mario had shot 415 doves in the morning, so he saw it was possible to do the 1000 doves. And he did! He joined the 1000 doves club!
They were such a nice gruop. We enjoyed their visit and so did they. They were really grateful with the field assistants, the cook and the guide. We hope to have them back soon!
