Argentina Should Be on Your Bucket List
From the 23rd to the 25th of July, we had the pleasure to have Logan Thomas and his team made up of Ricky, Mark, Mike, Jon, and Mark. This is the second time they come to Argentina with us!
On this opportunity, the trip was planned as follows: 2 days in La Tusca Lodge in Alta Gracia, and 2 days in our magnificent La Loma Lodge in Totoral City.
On our first day, we went to the field with 2 of the hunters, Jon and Mark, father and son. The rest of the group decided they would have lunch in a restaurant and then go straight to the lodge. After a long trip, you know, all you need is some rest.
For lunch, our chef cooked the typical Argentine asado, consisting of delicious beef, chicken, pork, chorizo, and morcilla which are cooked on a grill, called a parrilla. After we ate, we went to the field and spend there like 40 minutes.
During the hunt, the guys shot as much as they could. Then, they took a break and went back to the hunt. They were all so excited! They were not able to shoot a great number of doves, though. That is why they laughed and teased each other saying that they needed more practice.
At the end of the hunting, we came back to the lodge and we met the rest of the group. The guys sat outside and ate some snacks and drinks. When I say snacks, I actually mean the typical homemade appetizer consisting of a variety of cheeses and cold cuts that are meant to be shared with others over a glass of wine or beer to get the night started. In Argentina, we called it a picada. For us, a picada is definitely a reason to meet!
The next day, we woke up really early to do pigeon hunt in La Tusca. We drove about 40 minutes to get to the area where we would get ready to hunt. The guys organized themselves in pairs and the game started. It was on fire!! The pigeons were SO many, they could not kill all of them but they did not give up quickly. Even though they were not able to make the 1000 club, they were really happy for the whole experience.
In the end, we took some pictures and we got in the car to get to our next stop! The amazing La Loma Lodge, where Paola and the staff were waiting eagerly to welcome us! Very early in the morning, we went hunting in the area of Santa Rosa. Our guests knew that they would be able to see a lot of pigeons but they did not actually imagine what they were going to find...
As soon as they saw the number of birds flying, they were so amazed that they were not able to shoot. Instead, they took out their phones and cameras and took pictures of the thousands of doves in the air. They wanted to keep that image to themselves and said they would show their friends when they were back home.
The hunting session began and they started to shoot. In the middle, they had a coffee break and they exchanged posts. They were so amazed about the number of birds. You can imagine it, but you have to live it and experience it firsthand! I always get the same comment from our guests after all the fun they have in the field: "You see the videos and think it's going to be off the charts, but when you see it for yourself it's so much more than the camera can show you!"
Mark and Jon continued shooting during the afternoon. I told them that in the afternoon they would be able to see many more doves. And I really meant it!
They were so tired but really happy about what they were living! We took some pictures with all the doves and that was it for now.
We look forward to having you again in Argentina guys!
And you? What are you waiting to experience an amazing amount of birds firsthand?
You should be the next one!
