So Much Fun Here

For the third day in Cordoba, our guests wanted to explore the city and get to know a bit more of the country. From the Travel and Leisure department, Cici had organized this tour for the guys and she guided it herself. They arrived at the city at about 10.45 am and started visiting the historic center of Cordoba.

Garret, Grant, Bryce and Ian arrived on the 31st of August to Cordoba Airport where Federico Silva and Francisco Visintini were the company representatives waiting for them. We drove them straight to the field where Federico Gervasoni had prepared a delicious lunch to welcome these hunters.  The field was located in the eastern area of Jesus Maria town, what we call “el bajo”. The wind was strong that day, making the birds fly a bit higher than usual but still, the same big volume doves Cordoba got us used to. Our hunters enjoyed the day until 6 pm when we drove them to La Loma Lodge where its incredible staff was waiting for these guys with delicious appetizers and drinks.

The second day in Argentina started with the wake up call and breakfast at 7 am. Scrambled eggs, bacon and coffee to keep our guests going until asado time. We went to the same area as the day before for the hunting and the morning was simply awesome. Big volume birds plus really good weather conditions. Our hunters enjoyed non stop until it was time for another typical Argentine lunch. Asado, grilled meat. All cuts and kinds, delicious chimichurri sauce and tiramisu. By the last day of the trip, the guys were still talking about this tiramisu. They said it had been utterly scrumptious!

At the field we hung hammocks for those who want to take a short break after lunch. When our guests read about this before coming, they do not think they are going to be using them, but believe me…after a lavish asado and an intense morning of shooting, you will!!! So these guys had a 45 minute siesta before they started the afternoon session. The hunting day finished at about 5,30 because our guests wanted to go back to the lodge, have some massage and relax by the firepit. Empanadas was a favorite by the fire fit, delicious beef filled, like a hand held pie.

For the third day in Cordoba, our guests wanted to explore the city and get to know a bit more of the country. From the Travel and Leisure department, Cici had organized this tour for the guys and she guided it herself. They arrived at the city at about 10.45 am and started visiting the historic center of Cordoba. Some of the spots we visited were San Martin Square; The Cabildo, which is like a city hall from the times of the independence revolution; and the Cathedral. Our guests were truly surprised by the Cathedral’s dome and main nave, and also by the paintings inside. Cordoba city is popular for its walking areas. The city has several main pedestrian streets. We visited some and then went to the Jesuits Crypt. This is an underground, hidden temple built in the first decades of the XVIII century. It was a Jesuits worship place.

When they had a break from that tour, we went shopping! It was time to buy some souvenirs for friends and family left back at home. The shops we visited were one of the most traditional when it comes to buying leather, a signature product of the country. Our guests chose leather wallets and the typical Alpargatas, the shoes gauchos, rural workers wear.

Lunch was in one of the most vibrant neighborhoods of the city. Nueva Cordoba is the preferred place by students to live when they move to the city to study. Swarming with bars, crafts shops and markets, the hunters had lunch at an Italian restaurant and then visited Paseo de Buen Pastor, a spot that used to be a women’s prision and now has been turned into a fancy commercial center and favorite meeting spot among cordobeses. The last stop before having a cold beer was the Capuccinos church, with its neo gothic style. After the beer enjoyed with the magnificent view of the Capuccinos, the group made its way back to the lodge.

The last day, our guests wrapped the experience with a bang! Three of them made it to the 1000 birds mark! Congratulations, my friends! When we got back to the lodge, we gave them their 1000 doves t shirts, had some pictures taken and enjoyed some empanadas before massage and dinner.

It was a pleasure to have this group hunting here with us! What a great time!

You should be the next one!
