The airport was packed that morning, but it didn’t take us long to spot Steven, Todd and Clint. We were all excited to get to the field and start the action. We started our way to Las Rosas lodge, which is short, just 70 miles away from the airport. But it felt even shorter with all the conversation, we introduced ourselves, they introduced themselves and when we got to Las Rosas lodge, our chef Lucas had a place of appetizers and cold drinks ready for them. After they were given their rooms and we had a really delicious lunch, we were ready to start the hunt. It was about 3 pm. The unexpected was waiting for our guests, they had heard about big volume ducks in Argentina, but they hadn’t experienced it yet. Flocks and flocks of ducks. 

That afternoon, they did their limits in an hour and a half. When they arrived back at the lodge, Todd told me with a big smile “Even if there were no more ducks until Saturday, it would be okay. This is the best ever! So many ducks from all over, this sole first day has made my entire trip!” So in this way, we were starting a four day awesome experience packed with highlights for our three guests. Or maybe we should talk of four, since Connor was following every single detail of their aunts from the USA. He should be the next one! To wrap that great first day, we played some pool. Without knowing it, the pool games after dinner became a must and a friendly rivalry between Todd and Clint.

The following morning we knock on their doors at 5 am signaling a long awaited experience: another morning of ducks! The excitement was such that I overheard they were already awake when I knock their doors, and Steven, he was even ready! We had breakfast served by Lucas, the great chef and we made for the lagoon when it was still dark outside. If the first afternoon had been good, how can I describe the first morning? It was beyond expectations, with the limits done in half an hour! Steven had done some three ducks at the same time, too! In the same way the day went on, the afternoon being great, too. We wraped the day with some massage to relax our guests after such intense shooting. I would say the massage was very good because the next morning Clint got 50% of the ducks!

The rest of the trip unfolded in the same way, big volume hunt, good service, good food, and great atmosphere. The last morning was a bit stressful for me. The guys made their way to the field 30 km away from the lodge, which was about a 40 minute drive, and two hours later they were back. I though to myself, oh, maybe someone is feeling sick and they needed to return as soon as possible. All sorts of things crossed my worried mind during those 5 minutes since I saw the pick up truck approaching until it finally stopped outside the main doors. When I saw Clint get off the vehicle with a huge grin, talking and laughing with Todd…. It’s not possible, I thought. No way… but yes way! Todd came to me with his hands up in the air, hi five friend! We did our limits in 20 minutes! That’s right, just 20 minutes! Honestly, I was surprised but relieved at the same time! Oh boy, these guys had had good practice during their stay in Argentina!

That’s how I spent the four days with these excellent people, enjoying every detail and making the most of the trip. Even in our last ride shared to the airport, we had a picture taken in the very same spot where we met when they arrived. But there was a difference…nos we were not strangers anymore! I’m going to miss these guys! Hope to see you around soon!
