One Two Three Shot Down

On the 14th of June we welcomed a group of three friends. It was very early in the morning but still, they just wanted to get to the field as soon as possible. They were anxious to savor the Argentine experience and didn’t want to stop by Plaza Real Lodge first. The first question while we were driving them to the field was: “What’s the bird limit?” And I said, well… There’s no limit.

The limit is how much you can shoot. You set your own limit! My words ignited something inside of our new guests. They were in for a challenge. How many birds could they shoot down? Besides, there was the competition among them. Who would be the best of the three? Well, he had four days ahead to find it out. Randy, the group leader, suggested paying loads of attention to the field assistants. Listen to their advice and learn from their expertise, he said.

I dropped them off at their spots, they were introduced to the rest of the field staff, they received the safety speech about gun usage. Everything ready to start! I visited them a couple of times in their spots and they were doing really well. I met then again for lunch. WOW! Delicious ribs, loin, flank, mouth watering pork, beef, chicken, dove! When in Argentina, do as Argentines do. Eat loads of meat and make sure you load every bite with a generous serving of chimichurri, our delicious typical sauce. Then dessert, a good rush of sugar before enjoying the comfort of the hammocks for a short siesta. But there was no time for siesta. They were determined to get to the one thousand birds. Joshua was the first one to make it, and then he was not a conformist. He wanted to make it to the 2 thousands in a day! The sun started going down and so Joshua decided to relax a bit. He still had three days ahead of him to achieve his goal. When we arrived at Plaza Real Lodge, they went straight to the fire pit to enjoy some drinks and snacks and relax after such an intense day.

Grant, one of our gests, spoke really good Spanish and he told his field assistants that in the USA there were different ranches where he could practice hunting but the birds species were different. He also told us that in Mexico birds are abundant and he had seen quite a great volume, but he had never expected the amounts of birds he had seen and hunted so far in Cordoba. He concluded Cordoba is definetly the world capital for bird hunting and the best place in the entire world to practice this sport.

When the last day came, they were exhausted. They had hunted so much, fired so many shells. They had never fired so much in their entire lives! After another delicious lunch at the field with loads of delicious meat, they decided they wanted to have a long nap by the shade of the trees and then, compete with their field assistants and just have fun.

When they left, they were a bit sad. They had had such a good time in Cordoba that it was not nice to leave. They promised to return the three of them, no matter what!

We’ll be waiting for y’all!

You should be the next one!
