Plaza Real Lodge is one of the best options for dove hunting in Argentina. It is located in the province of Cordoba, in the center of Argentina, 50 miles (100 km) north of Cordoba’s International Airport. The driving time from the airport to the lodge is one hour.

Our guests receive the wake up call at 6 am. Breakfast is served by 6.30.  A hearty meal to kick off the day: scrambled eggs, bacon, fruit, juice, good coffee. We pick up our guests at 7 am. We tell them not to forget some essentials, shooting gloves, ear protection and why not, shoulder pads. They are essentials in Cordoba, where shooting 1000 shells a day is normal!

We’re just 40 minutes away from the hunting field. When we start approaching the area we start seeing the birds. Our field staff is ready, waiting for us to have fun! A wonderful day awaits, will someone shoot 1000 birds? 2000 maybe? 

Our guests have requested semiautomatic Berettas 391. We have them here and each field assistant is ready in the spot that has been carefully selected for each hunter. These spots are not random, but have been carefully selected to provide our guests with good shooting angles and comfort for a long day outdoors. 

The permanent scouting of the fields ensures the amount of birds is the expected by our guests. At this time of year, Don Rodolfo is the field where our guests say “this is Argentina!” The doves’ roost is located in 100 hectares of untouched bush. 

At 12.30 our master cheff calls us for lunch! A delicious asado has been grilled. Our guests have the chance to see how an authentic asado (bbq) is made in Argentina. Wood from local trees is collected, our chef makes a fire and grills there tender and varied meat cuts seasoned with our typical chimichurri. Wine, Malbec wine cannot be missing in a typical Argentine lunch, as well as Flan con dulce de leche for dessert. We promise you’ll miss these lunches back at home!

While our guest enjoy some after lunch relaxed time, we remind them that they can ask for a massage session back at the lodge. After such an intense day of hunting, the massage feels like a must!

At about 3.45 we see the first fligh of birds. The field assistants are ready on the spots, and the afternoon session begins. At this time of year, birds move to the fields in lower areas, to feed from the crops of soy, corn and sorghum. 

Our guests had a great day; you can see the happy faces in the pictures we took with their trophies. We get in the van and drive back to the lodge, where more drinks, food and great time will follow.
