NEWS & REPORTS
Fathers and Sons
We had the pleasure to welcome a group of 16 people. Friends and family celebrating the graduation of the 22 year old sons. What a great idea and memorable way to celebrate!
Argentina was waiting for them with a million doves, and our guest brought so much energy and enthusiasm that there was no way of not having an awesome trip.
They arrived at Cordoba airport, we picked them up and took them straight to the field. A big, mauth watering lunch was ready. Every day our chef prepared different dove appetizers. Dove skewers, dove tacos, dove stir fries. They made a good combo together with our delicious asados, barbeques. Loads of delicious meat, locally produced, cooked to the grill by our chefs, experts in the art of making asado. Chardonnay and Malbec bottles of wine were uncorked, we lost count of how many! The party was hear to celebrate, and so they did.
Desert was another highlight of lunch. Our cook Mary made tiramisu; postre borracho, which in English would be something like drunk dessert, delicious cookies soaked in wine and covered with whipped cream, and flan, our signature dessert, our own version of the typical panacotta, with a generous tablespoon (or two) of dulce de leche, delicious caramel sauce. There was no time for siesta after such a hearty meal. Our friends got the guitars and started playing and singing and just having a good time. Besides, they were really passionate about hunting, so they didn’t want to waste a minute that could have been spent shooting.
The birds were amazing. The mornings were a bit quiet, but in the afternoon, swarms of birds flew over the fields. However much our hunters loved shooting them down, they stopped to take pictures and make videos of the impressive volume of birds. Our Head Guide, Martin, made great choices regardin the fields the group was going to visit during their stay in Argentina.
From the wide variety of guns Pointer Outfitters has to offer, our guests chose Beretas 410 and 28, over and unders 20, semiautomatics cal 20 and also Benelli semiautomatics cal 20. The days have gotten cold. Winter is about to start and this changes the birds behavior. They leave their roosts after the frost eases out a bit, and come back to their roosts early in the afternoon.
After such an intense day of hunting we return to the lodge. Our massage therapists are ready waiting for our guests to give them good massage to relax sore muscles. The firepit is ready, sparkling waiting for our friends. Nights are very cold, making the group sit as closer to the fire as possisle. Guitars in hand, both kids and parents sing along Texan songs. More drinks, cocktails, beers, appetizers. What a celebration!
At the time the dinner is ready, our guests choose from an exclusive sellection of wines, all of them, delicious Malbecs. Angelica Zapata and Saint Felicien, from the famous Catena Zapata Winery; Rutini, from La Rural Winer and Animal and Alma Negra from Ernesto Catena winery. A professional sommelier has been invited to this dinner to tell our guests everything there is to know about this spirits. Some cheese platters to enjoy as well, the presentation is a success. Now, our guests know which wines to ask for in their next trip to Argentina.
Just like we said, our guests were passionate hunters, but they were here to have fun as well. For another night there was a show of belly dancers, so much fun! Another morning, they asked our Travel and Leisure department to have a morning of golf organized for them. They had a small competition among them in La Paz Golf Course, one of the best golf courses in the province. After that, our guests had lunch in the field and then the hunt started. It was a memorable day, quality time spent together, fathers and sons, friends. I’m sure they’ll reminiscent about this trip for the years to come. It was such an special group to receive!
