NEWS & REPORTS
This is Unique
In April in Argentina the birds start moving towards fields located in lower areas. The volume of birds is great; they move towards places with water and return in the afternoons to their roosts.
At 7 am breakfast is ready to welcome our guests who are about to experience hunting in Argentina for the first time. David, Linn, Courtney and David enjoy some scrambled eggs, bacon, juice and fruit and get their gear ready. The hunting field is just 40 minutes away from La Loma Lodge, where our guests are staying and where all its staff offer great service along with comfortable and traditional facilities. Before we leave we make a quick check to make sure our guests are carrying hearing protection and gloves, they’ll need it in the field when firing more than a thousand shots a day sometimes.
After 40 minutes driving we get to the shooting area. We see birds which have already stated moving around. All our field staff is waiting with everything ready for the great day we have ahead. Our guests have asked for semi automatic guns and we are proud to offer them, we have more than a 100 shotguns of these together with over and unders, cal 28,20, and 410. It doesn’t take long to get our guests ready in the spots. They have their Benelli Montefeltros cal 20 and one field assistant for each. Besides helping the hunters, the field assistants look for strategic shooting spots, with good shooting angles and comfort to spend a full day outdoors.
At about 12.30 our chef has the asado ready. Our famous, signature meal paired with the best red wine. Flank, loin, ribs, chicken, beef, dove, delicious desert. The meal is enjoyed together with annecdotes, laughter and music. Some of our guests take pictures of the traditional way in which the meat is cooked, by the firewood on the floor. It is during lunch when we offer our guests the option to have massages back at the lodge, before or after dinner, to avoid sore muscles for the next day. At the time you read this, you might think you will not need a massage, but believe me, the volume of birds in Argentina is so great that most likely, you’ll be asking for the massage.
We comfortably hung hammocks under the shade of the local trees for a thirty minute nap before the afternoon hunting session starts. At about 2pm we see the birds start flying again. They are returning after feeding in fields of corn and milo and feedlots in the area.
A better sign than shell or dove numbers is the smile on the faces of our guests, and we see wide ones when we pick them up from their hunting spots. They talk and comment about how unique this experience is. We go the extra mile to offer the best to our guests and make the difference. When all the hunters are back in the van, we start our way to the lodge. At La Loma, the fire pit will be on, and delicious snacks will be served. The cooking staff at La Loma likes to experiement and try new options for every group, and they do the same with cocktails. Our guest will enjoy some relaxing time and then go to sleep before another great day at the field.
You should be the next one!
