NEWS & REPORTS
Fantastic Voyage
After dinner, I made my way to the airport. A bit after midnight a new group was arriving. The 10th of March, we welcomed Larry, Terry, Brandon and Jason. We took them straight to the hotel to have some hours of sleep before their first hunting session.
The lodge that welcomed them was Plaza Real, a beautiful hotel located very close the highlands of the town of Totoral, and just steps away from a very nice river, a typical feature of our geography. Plaza Real is one of the best options for dove hunting in Argentina. It is located in the province of Cordoba, in the center of Argentina, 50 miles (100 km) north of Cordoba’s International Airport. The driving time from the airport to the lodge is one hour. Smack dab in the middle of the main capital of dove hunting in South America.
The next morning our guests were very tired given the long flight and the late night sleep. So they asked us to show them around the town. Totoral is a small town but a very charming one. It was an important stop for people travelling to other parts of the country in the past. Today is a very quiet village, with lots of colonial style, big houses and wide streets. Dinner was early that day. Plaza Real Lodge was waiting for them. Immideatly after that, the decided to go to bed and rest. The next day was going to be their first hunting experience here.
At 8 am the following day we were already on the road. We made our way to an area called Jesus Maria. We had a beautiful sunny morning which allowed for a good hunting session. The area had a great volume of birds flying because it is where they find water. Lunch was at about 1 pm, the idea was to allow our guests a good rest at siesta time so that then, they could have another good session of hunting in the afternoon. Fortunately, it was just as planned. The temperature climbed in the afternoon and we had a very good hunting, with an incredible volume of birds. At about 6 pm we started our way to the lodge, which was just a short 30 minute drive. There, delicious snacks and a glass of wine were waiting for them to relax by the firepit. All of our guests can ask for massages to enjoy after the hunting.
For the second day of hunting we drove our guests to a field that is not very close to the lodge. However, the longish ride to this spot is always worth it because of the amount of doves. We hunted in the morning until 12.30. A wonderful lunch was prepared for our guests. This is the opportunity they have to try the delicious Argentinian food. Asado is grilled meat that is cooked by the wood fire, it features different meat cuts, such as loin, ribs, flanks. Asado is a show in itself. Our chef prepares it with a lot of passion. It’s a pleasure to let our guests enjoy the best we can offer. Doves are usually part of the menu, too. Dove tacos, or skewers are usually enjoyed. After such a hearty meal, every body needs some rest. Hammocks are hanged around the trees and our guests can enjoy a confortable nap before hitting the fields again. We decided to call it a day by 6.30 pm. All of our guests were happy to have had a hunting day that was a success.
Fort he last day, our guests could enjoy a great hunting day in the same área as the day before, but different field. The place is called La Para and again, the volume of birds is intense. The hunting in the morning was a bit short. The previous day had been exhausting and our friends were in for some relaxation as well. They had a longer siesta in the afternoon, and after that the afternoon session started. Given it was the last day, we closed it with a bang! The hunting was awesome and after that we drove our guests to the Lodge. They had dinner at Plaza Real, and after thay, we drove them to the airport. Their flight was scheduled to leave just past midnight.
We hope to see them around soon.
You should be the next one!
