Eight Thousand Shells in Four Days
Mike Moore arrived at Cordoba Airport the last day of February. We picked him up at 10.40 am and we went straight to the field. He was visiting us from Canada and it was not Mike’s first time hunting in Argentina. He knew very well what to expect! He was anxious to start hunting here again.
We took him to an area called El Bajo de Jesus Maria where his field assistant Gabriel P. was waiting for him. The volume of birds at around midday was not the highest but it got better by the hour and it was excellent by the end of the day. We decided to call it a day at 7 pm, but let’s summarize Mike’s hunting day: 80 boxes of shells and more than 1500 birds shot down in just one afternoon hunting session! This clearly showed his passion for hunting. We gave him his present: a 1 thousand doves club Tshirt.
We drove him back to La Loma Lodge, the preferred accommodation for families, groups of friends and exclusive customers. La Loma welcomed Mike with it’s colorful scenery; an excellent private lodge providing superior service.
For the second day of hunting we took Mike to one of our guests’ preferred areas for hunting, La Para roost. This particular field offers a different hunting experience in terms of schedules. There are no trees nearby the camp set up for lunch, which makes it impossible to put up the hammocks for siesta, so the afternoon hunting session starts a bit earlier and our guests can make the most of the constant flow of birds at this time of day. We decided to call it a day at 6pm. And again, Mike had exceeded our best guesses. He shot down 2 thousand doves in just one day! This meant he got another present to congratulate him on his success; a beautiful handmade leather pouch for shells with the bird amount 2000 stamped on it.
Just think about the amount of shells shot every day. It's paramount to have guns up to standard. We offer our guests a wide variety of Beretta and Benelli shotguns to choose from. These guns are taken really good care of, cleaned once a day by our field assistants at lunch time. The guns sport outstanding performance and comfort when firing more than 2 thousand shots a day.
For the 2nd of March we changed our routine a bit and took Mike to an area called Rio Primero, towards the north of the lodge. The day was a bit windy, which made the hunting a bit more complicated but definitely entertaining. Our cook Federico had prepared a delicious lunch in camp, and it was ready at midday. Like I’ve said, Mike has been in Argentina serveral times and enjoys our well famed beef. So we cooked for him our traditional asado, dove tacos and we offered him a good Malbec to enjoy. He took a short siesta and went back to what he came for. He hunted just for 2 hours and then decided to relax. The two previous days had been really intense huntingwise.
For the last day we took Mike to La Para. He wanted to finish his hunting trip on a high note. The amount of doves was really, really good. Howver, he had to stop at 10,30 am because of the really bad weather conditions. We had lunch at a local restaurant. Lunch was earlier than usual for the same reason but we went straight to the field as soon as it was possible. Mike hunted up to 5.30 pm. Then, we drove him to La Loma Lodge. He was welcomed by its staff with some snacks and cocktails before dinner. He also enjoyed a good massage, a service we offer to our guests after a day of hunting.
We had an early start on the 4th of March because Mike’s flight was scheduled to leave at 8.15.
So, to sum up, Mike shot down more than 6 thousand birds during his four day hunting trip. Are you still not sure about coming to hunt with us?!
We hope to see you around soon!
