Good Friends and Amazing Shooting
On the 19th of February at 12,40 am we welcomed Brandon, Tylie, William and Ronnie. They were a group of friends who were coming to Argentina to have the time of their lives wingshooting in one of the best destinations for doing so. They stayed the night in Sheraton Hotel, in Cordoba city.
The next day we picked them up there at 9 am and we went to the field, located towards the North of the province of Cordoba, along route 60. The name of the town where the field is located is La Tuna, the name of a typical local fruit that grows from a plant that looks very much like a cactus.
Enough about the location, let’s talk about the lunch! Our cook Gabriel was waiting for us with the asado ready. Asado is the name for the Argentinian bbq, and it is well known abroad for the quality of the beef and the variety of meat cuts it features. After lunch our friends had a nice siesta in the hammocks hanging by the trees to recover from the long flight.
At 15.15 the first hunting session started without any further delay. We hunted until 18.00, when the flow of birds stopped. We started our way to La Loma lodge, the chosen accommodation for the days to come.
La Loma lodge is a beautiful traditional Estancia built in 1908 by one of the wealthiest families in Argentina. The lodge is located about one hour north of Cordoba International Airport in the town of Totoral. Situated next to the biggest dove roost in Argentina, the rides to the fields are a convenient 10 to 40 minutes. La Loma’s staff, the delicious Argentine meals, as well as copious amounts of doves combine to make this a very memorable dove-shooting trip.
On the 21st we started the day at 8 am. Our guests are woken up, served breakfast in the lodge and then picked up by the hunting guides to drive them to the fields. The field that day was in an area called La Para, towards the east of the province along route 17. The hunting that day was spectacular. This particular field does not have trees nearby the camp we set up for lunch, which, sadly, means no hammocks by the trees for siestas. However, there’s always a silver lining and no siesta means starting the hunting afternoon session earlier than usual. The flow of birds that day was really good again. Birds flew all over our heads the entire day. By 17.30 our friends decided to stop, they were very tired and they were longing for the comfort of La Loma lodge to rest after an intense hunting day.
The next day started at 8 am too and the hunting area was the same, though the field was different. The hunting that day was a bit more relaxed than the day before. But this was not because of lack of birds; birds were as abundant as the previous days, but our friends were still exhausted from the day before. You might read this and don’t believe it. We know, Argentina dove hunting is something that needs to be seen to be believed. You get really tired of shooting so many birds, your fingers will hurt, your back will be sore, your arms might go numb. The amount of birds is just unbelievable. But you can always ask for massages back in the lodge, to relax your body and get the ready for more birds the next day. We offer an excellent service of massage every day after the hunting at our guests' request.
Anyways, that day lunch was earlier and siesta longer and the afternoon hunting session lasted till 18.30.
Let's talk about guns. Pointer has more than 100 shotguns to offer. We have over and unders cal. 28, 20, 410, Benelli Montefeltro cal 20, among others. We offer our guests a variety of Benelli and Beretta shotguns and they always exceed our clients expectations.
After our guests request the last day of hunting took place in the area of Las Sierras. Our guests didn’t want to repeat the high-volume areas of the days before, they just wanted a more relaxed hunt so we took them to the hilly areas of the province to hunt for the morning. After lunch, our guets asked to go back to La Loma Lodge and meet their field assistants for some drinks late in the evening. They had had a great time together and wanted to say goodbye to them, too. So the chosen spot for the night was El Petit Cafe, a typical bar of Totoral, the town where La Loma Lodge is lcoated. We enjoy organizing flexible trips that meet our guests requests. We want them to enjoy the experience.
The next day we drove them to the City of Cordoba. From there, they would start their way back home.
It was a pleasure meeting them, we hope to see them again!
You should be the next one!
