Laughter All Over the Field

After a long flight, Larry Norrell and his friends arrived in Cordoba. Our main guide Martin, along with Francisco, was waiting for them at the airport. They were picked up and then taken directly to the field in which, our cook David, was waiting for the group with everything ready to have lunch; the incredible Asado Argentino was ready!

When we went back to Plaza Real Lodge, that same night, Vero, along with other 7 masseurs, were waiting for the group to help them relax and feel better after so many hours flying.

The next morning, Martin suggested us to go to a field a little bit farther, in which we all knew we would find lots of doves. And that’s how it was; after an hour and fifteen minutes of driving, we found the field and all the field assistants, chef and the rest of the group.

That same morning, the shooting was amazing! There were so many doves flying towards us, that the group was completely amazed.

David, the chef in charge of doing the Asado, was waiting for us with a huge tent and a long table for 16 people. The first plate was doves in red wine with lots of vegetables, then “chorizo”, chicken and pork.

As main dish we were lucky to eat the classic and juicy “Lomo”, with arugula, lettuce, and nuts salad. Every single dish our chef prepares at the field, is always accompanied with red wine, coca cola, sprite or beer. The atmosphere was great; laughter, anecdotes, great lunch and Tiramisu for dessert.

Once we had finished lunch, the group was divided between those who decided to take a quick nap before afternoon hunt, and those who decided to walk for a bit before going to the hunting spot again.

Here in Argentina, it is known that the afternoon hunt tends to be better than the morning hunt and that day wasn’t the exception. After lunch, a nap or a little walk, everyone went back to the hunting spots designed knowing that, at that point of the day, doves fly back to the place in which they sleep, located right behind our spots.

That was how, after a long day of action, we decided to go back to the lodge on two different trucks.

Once we got there, everyone went to their rooms, took showers and some of them took another massage session, while the rest was surrounding the fire pit, enjoying some appetizers, wine, beer and one of the Makers Whiskey bottles that Larry brought from the US.

The next day we went hunting to a different field, as far as the las one. Although the sun sometimes can be intrusive, this is not a problem for us since we use Costa Del Mar fantail sunglasses, as These co-molded frames are a bit smaller, but definitely akin to the classic styling of our Blackfin frames.

It was an incredible day; sun, doves, friends having a great time, fathers and sons sharing, happiness, jokes and hunt! Amazing hunt, double hunt and even triple hunt! Yes! I couldn’t believe my eyes! Larry killed 3 doves with just one shot! It was incredible, and, lucky for me, I could share that moment with him.

Once the morning hunt was over, Martin and Francisco drove us to the camp. The place was perfect; everything was already planned. There were hammocks in the shadows so we can take a nap after lunch, and drinks everywhere. Lunch was similar to the one we had the day before, but this time, we had pears in red wine, a delicious creation.

That afternoon I visited many hunting spots, and I remember a particular one, the one that Sebastian and Maja prepared for Larry and Leonard. I remember being close to that spot and seeing our friends doing a little dance following the rhythm of country music. Let’s face it: there is nothing better for a hunting day than friends, music and a couple of cold beers.

Another great day was over and let me tell you something, there is nothing better at this job than watching each group together, laughing at night, drinking, having fun, telling anecdotes of the hunting day, telling me how great this trip has been.

Once dinner time was over, most of the group went to bed since the next morning we were waking up an hour earlier to be able to hunt before the group leaves at 10 am.

Another day at the office. Another happy day hunting with an incredible group here, with Pointer Outfitters.

Hope to see you again,
