The Field
San José offers world-class bird hunting, with a variety of species available throughout the season. Guests come specifically for the renowned duck hunting, but the lodge also offers excellent opportunities for dove, perdiz, and pigeon.
The hunting fields are not far than 30 minutes driving, even a lot of them are inside the ranch, 5 minutes away.
Gear and Equipment
Chest Waders - These are by far the most common type of waders. They keep you dry in deep water, and shoulder straps ensure they stay in place. Most come with pockets and clips to secure shell holders, calls, and other hunting accessories. *we provide rentals at the lodge
Hip Waders - These give hunters unparalleled comfort, protection, and value. Durable stretch neoprene provides excellent insulation, bonded and taped seams provide protection against leakage, and double-layered neoprene in the knees insulate wonderfully. *we provide rentals at the lodge
Shooting Gloves - We suggest bringing Pro Camo Waterproof Insulated Gloves, or some Primos Stretch-Fit Gloves. Another great option for cold days would be Drake Men's Double Duty Gore-Tex Decoy Gloves.
Socks - Cotton Thermal with Stripe Accents Boot Crew Socks; High Bulk Acrylic Thermal Boot Crew Socks.
Headwear – Camo or Brown Reversible Beanie ~ Duck Hunting Hat Stocking Cap. Should be 80% cotton/20% Acrylic or polar.
Polar Necks – For especially cold and windy days.
Insulated Underwear – Mid-weight long sleeve thermal top-provides more warmth and comfort in cool/cold outdoor situations. Carbon Alloy® technology combines with an anti-microbial treatment to provide an ultimate barrier for body odor. The garment also breathes to keep you dry and cool.
Full-Season Headwear - keeps hunters insulated, camouflaged, and comfortable throughout the seasons and the range of temperatures experienced here in Argentina. The earlier part of the season will be cool, mid-season will be breezy, and the end-season will be quite cold. Its large opening prioritizes visibility, hearing, and comfort. The hinged facemask design lowers easily so you can quickly call or shoot. Especially recommended for late June and July hunting trips.
Insulated Jackets - put warmth and durability ahead of any frilly features, so you end up with a performance powerhouse ready for any water fowling hunt. We suggest one built with a 100% polyester shell and 100% nylon lining.
Ear Protection - There are numerous varieties of ear protection on the market. You should look for comfort, fit, and sound deafening components.
Camera - The area you will be hunting is exceptionally beautiful. We also offer a private service by a professional photographer. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.
Evening Dress- Clothing is casual. Slacks and sport shirts are all you need.
Band-Aids/Tape/Medicinal cream - We have first aid kits in the field in case of an emergency. It’s a good idea to bring your own personal medical supplies however. Antihistamine cream for bug bites, Neosporin for cuts, sunscreen, etc.
