I met Russell 10 years ago, when I was head guide in a different company. I remember we had such great time and excellent camaraderie days, so I was very pleased and happy to get in touch with him by e-mail after all these years.

Russell and his great sons George and John, along with Jackson (John’s son), just visited us last week in mid February, and they decided to stay at La Loma Lodge this trip, one of the best options we have in terms of accommodation, in which we combine the traditional Argentinean Estancia with a little bit of modern services and great luxury for a hunting lodge.

This Lodge is perfectly situated between the two most prized dove roosts in Cordoba.

La Loma Program offers superb shooting year-round. It is a beautiful traditional Estancia built in 1908 by one of the wealthiest families in Argentina. The lodge is located about one hour north of Cordoba International Airport in the town of Villa Del Totoral. Situated next to the biggest dove roost in Argentina, the rides to the fields are a convenient 10 to 40 minutes. This Famous Argentine Estancia has been renovated in 2014 and it is now one of the most requested destinations for Dove Hunting in Northern Cordoba. La Loma’s staff, the delicious Argentine meals, excellent private lodging, superior service, and copious amounts of doves combine to make this a very memorable dove-shooting trip.

Martin was their guide the two first days, having awesome weather and a really incredible time at the field since doves flew around very well. Besides, Eared Dove shooting is one of the most challenging and exciting shooting opportunities around the world. Dove shooting in Cordoba is as well known as Driven Pheasant in the UK, ducks in Canada, Upland Pheasant in the Dakotas, or Quail hunting in Georgia.

A regular program for dove shooting includes four nights in one of our Lodges.

Hunters normally average 3 and half days of shooting, so that would be enough shooting for 99% of us, but if your shoulder allows you, you are welcome to stay longer. Believe us; dove shooting in Cordoba, Argentina, is going to change your perspective of dove hunting forever. 

In our second day of hunt, we started at 9 am and finished at 6:30 pm with excellent results.

Our field assistants that day were Santiago, Emanuel, Gabriel and Francisco, talented and kind people, always enthusiastic and dedicated to make the best job helping our guests and constantly waiting for them with cold water and a shotgun ready.

We are proud to announce that in our staff there are master guides who work hard to provide the best information and suggestions to our clients. This is the reason why each hunter coming to our tour has the opportunities to succeed.

Now, as I have mentioned shotguns, let me tell you more about them.

That day, we used one Benelli Montefeltro CAL 20, and two others Beretta Superpuesta (Superimposed) CAL 20, having great results using RD cartridge and ammunition 7, the best type for this kind of hunt.

I would also like to mention a short note about our guns: Most of our guns are semi-automatic Benelli 20 gauge and Beretta 20 gauge.We have Benelli Montefeltro, Benelli Super Sports, Benelli M1 Black, Beretta Urika 391, Beretta A400 and Beretta A300. We also have Beretta Silver. 

At Pointer Outfitters, like in all Argentinean hunting companies, a large group of guns is used because of the high volume of shooting in Cordoba that makes any brand new gun, a worn-out gun in just a short time.  We clean and service our guns routinely and keep them in top operating conditions.

For better service to our guest, our policy is to have 2 shotguns per person per blind.  If you have a gun jam or mis-fires, your filed assistant will be able to change your gun quickly, so we want you to understand that we work very hard providing a great hunting service, but infrequently gun issues do arise.

Now, let’s go back to talk about this amazing group that we had in La Loma Lodge.

They are from Oregon, something that was, in one hand, new for us in Pointer Outfitters because we are not used to have people from that place, but, in the other hand, it was a great way to start having clients from Oregon in our country.

We wanted to do something special for Russell in order to make his birthday, the best one. So we organized different events for him and his lovely family. One night we had some musicians playing for us a great variety of traditional Argentinean music. It started slowly but at the end of the night we were all happily celebrating and cheering wildly. It was an emotional and wined night at La Loma Lodge. But it was not it. On the last night, we organized the best surprise ever with Arabic music and dancing odalisques. It exceeded all the expectations they have, as that kind of dance is just as famous as Tango and it has an incredible and high artistic level.

Our friends continued their trip on Saturday morning. Federico, one of our guides, drive them to the Airport and they left our province directly to Patagonia in order to have another excellent hunting trip, but this time it was a Fly Fishing kind of trip as George is really experienced and good at fishing. He told me he went to Tanzania to do some Tiger Fishing and he also mentioned his new challenge in Cuba.
