Hunting with Garito and Jeff

We have waited in Cordoba's Airport for the flight Copa 101 from Panama the arrival of our friend Gary Kott better known as “Garito” for a good time hunting at La Loma Lodge located at 80 km from the capital city of Cordoba.

This Famous Argentine Estancia has been renovated in 2014 and it is now one of the most requested destinations for Dove Hunting in Northern Cordoba. with excellent private lodging and superior service.

La Loma is a beautiful traditional Estancia built in 1908 by one of the wealthiest families in Argentina. The lodge is located about one hour north of Cordoba International Airport in the town of Totoral. Situated next to the biggest dove roost in Argentina, the rides to the fields are a convenient 10 to 40 minutes. La Loma’s staff, the delicious Argentine meals, and copious amounts of doves combine to make this a very memorable dove-shooting trip.

Our guests arrive on time to be recieved at the lodge with a tasteful Argentine appetizer and cold beers. This particular group are really good friends who have been with us a couple of times, and have dinner with us in Houston a couple of times, too.

We recommend our guests to use Benelli Montefeltro 20 gauge and Beretta 400 20 gauge. We also have Beretta Silver Pigeons over and under since they are light weighted and high efficiency, they shoot birds at a very high speed. The volume of birds in our fields is really high so these guns are perfect for shooting.

In this time of the year, the 100% of the birds are in the North area of Cordoba. Spring is an excellent time for shooting because birds flow in great amounts and in different angles.

As always, our staff is ready to provide the best dove hunting experience in the lodge as well as in the field. Our experienced friend Gary told us about their awe with the endless number of doves in the best area for shooting in Cordoba: our fields.

Each one of our assistants have put in activity our new personal radios, the Midland GXT2050VP4 Radio Pack, Jammed full of today’s most popular features, this is truly the ultimate in two-way radios. You get maximum power with up to a 36-mile range under ideal conditions. Plus it’s waterproof. 50 channels, 28 special channels and 285 privacy codes. This radios had changed our services in the field to be sure our guest have everything they need.

What is more, our master chef have delighted us with Doves in Red Wine in the field and our typical asado with chimichurri o chimichanga.

Usually the asador begins by igniting the charcoal. The charcoal is often made of native trees, avoiding pines and eucalyptus as they have strong-smelling resins. In more sophisticated asados the charcoal is of a specific tree or made on the coal of recently burned wood, which is also commonplace when having an asado in a campfire. Cooking can be done al asador or a la parrilla. In the first case a fire is made on the ground or in a fire pit and surrounded by metal crosses (asadores) that hold the entire carcass of an animal splayed open to receive the heat from the fire. In the second case a fire is made and after the charcoal has formed, a grill with the meat is placed over it. After appetizers, costillas or asado de tira (ribs) can be served. Next comes vacío (flank steak), matambre and possibly chicken and chivito (goatling).Come on and enjoy it yourself.

Hope to see you soon!

You should be the next one!
