Lots of Fun Lots of Birds

It was the 15th of June at 11.10 am when this group arrived at Cordoba. Sunny morning, we helped our guests with the luggage and welcomed them to Argentina. We told them we were going to drive them to the field, so that they could make the most of the day they had ahead.

They were happy about this, but they did not know about everything we had ready at the field waiting for them. Our field assistants were there, each had prepared a hunting spot for each guest, with good cover, comfortable seating and nice shade. The shells were already there, some music if our guests wanted to. The cooking staff had prepared a delicious asado to welcome the group. The fire had been started and the meet had been seasoned and cooked slowly to get the best flavours. Some salads had been prepared too, to compensate for the loads of delicious beef our guests were to eat during their stay.

This was a big surprise for our guests, they were not expecting such a welcome! But we love welcoming new guests, each group is different and we have loads of fun. After each hunter met their field assistants, they sat to eat each different meat cut we offered them. When we finished lunch, they got into the hunting gear and the hunt started.

A couple of hours later, our guests were just out of their minds! So many, so many birds. They were exhausted by the trip, but they didn’t want to miss a shot! They told us that in their ranch, back in their home countries, they go feral pig hunting from helicopters. That sounds like fun! They explained to us that the fun part is that shooting from up there is not very easy because of the constant movement of the craft. They invited us to go visit them and try this new (for us) hunting experience.

When the day finished, we drove our guests to Plaza Real Lodge to finally get to their rooms and relax. At Plaza Real, the lodge staff were waiting for them with delicious appetizers by the fire pit. A couple of hours later, they had dinner and then off to bed or some more drinks by the fire? You choose!

After a good night’s sleep and a hearty breakfast, they were more relaxed for the second day. They had heard about this thing, the 1000 doves club. They wanted to be part of it, so their plan was to shoot this number in one day. Their field assistants were encouraging them. Told them it was just a piece of cake and they could even shoot more than that if they wanted to! Who of our four guests would be the first one?

In the afternoon, Terrell wanted to hunt in a spot, a bit further from his friends. He was determined to shoot 1000 birds, and we knew he was going to make it. The day was perfect to achieve it. Sunny, no wind at all, awesome volume of birds...Finally, Terrell made it! He was the first to become part of the 1000 club! 1057 birds shot down, 60 boxes of shell! I’m so tired, he said. but the smile in his face told me he had had a great time! He wated to get together with his friends as soon as possible so as to share this with them! When he did, his friends were anxious to see who would be the first one to make it to 1000 the next day.

The third day, early morning I went to pick them up at Plaza Real Lodge, I found Adan sitting in the lodge after a hearty breakfast. He said they were having an awesome time and they were thinking about returning next year with more friends. They were very happy with our opperation because they felt as comfortable as in their own ranches. Todd said he didn’t mind if he couldn’t make it to the 1000 birds; he was more than satified knowing that in three days he had shot many many more birds than the number he could ever shoot in his entire life in his country. When we headed to the field, they decided that for the last day they were going to shoot in groups of two, to see who did it best! At lunch time, they were already thinking and planning about the trip to Argentina for the next year. It was going to be a bigger group next time, but the four of them would be back, that was out of the question.

When it was time to say goodbye to their field assistants, they expressed their gratitude for the outstanding service provided and promised to be back, with a bigger party.

You should be the next one!

A couple of day after the group left, we got this email. Read about Craig's experience in his own words!

Thanks Pablo, we had a fantastic trip. Can't stop talking about it. Everyone wants to hear these stories and see the pictures. Just posted the video on Facebook. Hope you get lots of business from it. If you need recommendations to anyone feel free to give them my number or email address. Hope to get back that way soon. Thanks again. Craig
