Empty Shells and a Lot of Fun

The 11th of February at 6.40 am Cory McAdams, Frank Silvia (Jimbo) and Luke Anderson arrived at Cordoba airport. David, a representative from our team, was happily waiting for them ready to take them straight to the field.

The field today was located towards the north of our province, along Route 9, the main route that goes all along the country from north to south. At about 10.45 Cory, Jimbo and Luke joined a group of 4 English gentlemen who were hunting in the same field. They shared lunch and the afternoon hunting session. It was Jimbo’s second time in Argentina, while Cory and Luke were just discovering this country and the amazing wingshooting opportunities it offers. They were anxious to experience what it was all about. Argentina is a destination known for wingshooting all over the world and the hunting experience is something that has to be seen to be believed.

The day had started a bit overcast but it got brighter and brighter by the hour, which made the hunting session really good. We started our way back to the lodge at 6.30.

The accommodation chose by our guests is La Loma Lodge. La Loma is a beautiful traditional Estancia built in 1908 by one of the wealthiest families in Argentina. The lodge is located about one hour north of Cordoba International Airport in the town of Totoral. Situated next to the biggest dove roost in Argentina, the rides to the fields are a convenient 10 to 40 minutes. La Loma’s staff, the delicious Argentine meals, as well as copious amounts of doves combine to make this a very memorable dove-shooting trip.

The 12th of February started when we made our way to the field were we would spend the day. It was located in an area called Los Pozos, towards the southwest of the province along Route 60 in a village called Las Tunas. We started the morning hunting session and it was very relaxed. At about 1pm we got together in the lunch camp. Our chef Gabriel Pedercini was waiting for us. The menu today had delicious dove skewers for starters. Fresh dove meat rolled in crispy bacon with some bell pepper grilled in firewood, which gives it a delicious smoky flavor (my mouth waters just by writing this). The main course was our signature barbeque, the famous asado, featuring different cuts of pork, beef and sausages. Desert was another Argentine favorite, Flan con Dulce de Leche, which is a delicious milk custard with the typical caramel sauce Argentinians are very proud of.

There was a short nap followed by the afternoon hunting session and this was a turning point for our three friends because the hunting got to the next level and they started to understand why Argentina is such a requested destination for dove hunting.

The third day started earlier than usual. The morning was a scorcher and we made our way to La Para, a place towards the east of the province along Route 17. The trip was about one hour, which can seem a bit long when you are excited and want to star shooting ASAP, but the trip was definitely worth it. The amount of birds was absolutely amazing and our friends could really taste the Argentinian hunting experience. The routine was similar to the previous day, stopping for a delicious lunch at about 1pm and getting back to the field at 3pm. The hunting lasted till about 5.30 pm when we started our way back to La Loma Lodge. There our guests were welcome by the Lodge Staff with snacks and cocktails by the firepit.

On the 14th of February we went back to same area in La Para, but a different field. We were after the same results from the day before and we were not wrong. The shooting was top notch and the volume of birds flying and shot down was unbelievable! The day was very hot again, given that this area is close to a salt lake called Laguna Mar Chiquita, and therefore, more humid.

Our guests were definitely satisfied but also surprised because the hunting had exceeded their expectations.

Our guns also exceed expectations, they showcase an incredible performance when shooting more than 2000 shots a day. We offer a variety between Berettas 391, 400, Beneli Montefeltros, Supersports, both caliber 20 and 12. The cherry on top of this variety is our brand new guns: Berettas cal 28 and 410 for those guests who request this caliber.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t possible to arrange a hunting session in the morning for the last day given that the flight left at midday. We picked our friends at about 9.30 am from the lodge and we drove them to the airport. Their homes were waiting for them, but we also hope to see them again here!

You should be the next one!
